Geography
Welcome to the Geography department
Why would people want to live near a volcano? Why do some people choose to live in different countries? What will happen to our planet if temperatures continue to rise?
Geography is a focus within the curriculum for understanding and resolving issues about the environment and sustainable development. It is also an important link between the natural and social sciences. As students study geography, they encounter different societies and cultures helping them to become Global Citizens and formulate their own opinions by Geographical enquiries and case studies.
In Geography our core objective for every student in every lesson is to understand the world around them. We inspire our students to explore new places and bring about positive change. We hope that every student will go on to be successful in life and be part of a global community that cares for each other and the fragile environment we live in. We believe that by studying Geography at the Bay CE School all of our students will be better equipped through the skills and knowledge acquired in lessons to lead fulfilled lives through a better understanding of the world we live in.

How the Curriculum has been adapted following the Covid-19 Pandemic
Gaps in skills and knowledge have been identified and we have changed the structure of the course to ensure that the content is covered and revisited. We also know that some students have missed some of the vital skills of working with others so there is time for collaborative work built into the curriculum. At all points throughout the course the relevance of Geography to each and every student at our school is highlighted.
