We have an inspiring Careers programme designed to develop student's employability, career management and learning skills. Our students have benefitted greatly from the support of excellent links with post-16 providers and employers.

Measuring the impact of our Careers Programme
Evaluation
- An important part of the CEIAG programme is evaluation. It is mainly through evaluation that this policy will develop whilst keeping abreast of national changes to CEIAG. Evaluations take place after career-related events so we can assess whether or not career outcomes have been met. Students’ access to careers related activities are tracked electronically and are regularly monitored.
- Assessment takes place through verbal feedback/assessment observation, written evaluations, student and employer feedback and also by analysing destination data (see below). The process of regularly completing and monitoring the Gatsby Benchmark Compass Plus Tool has given us the opportunity to review and evaluate the whole CEIAG programme
Analysis and Tracking of Destinations data:
- Island Futures provide an annual Destinations Report for school leavers, releasing their final report in the subsequent January each year following year leavers on August 31st. This allows the Bay to track subjects students go into and employment areas of courses and apprenticeships. It also allows us to analyse and cross-match intended destinations with appropriateness of provision and measure success of our advice and support.
The September Guarantee %: The September Guarantee is a guarantee of an offer, made by the end of September, of an appropriate place in post-16 education or training for every young person completing compulsory education. The September Guarantee is an offer of a place in one of the following:
- A school sixth form
- A college of further education
- Employment with training to at least level 2
- An apprenticeship
- Ensuring that every young person has an offer of a place to progress onto is particularly important as it helps young people make a seamless transition into post-16 learning or employment with training.
NEETS % (not in education, employment or training)
- Destination measures provide the Bay with clear and comparable information on the success of our school in helping all their students take qualifications that offer them the best opportunity to continue in education, training or employment.
- Every child maintains their own Personal Achievement portfolio which hosts all evidence of Careers and Futures action planning, Action Plans, Target-setting, Achievements and Certification. A strong portfolio of evidence represents commitment and success throughout our careers and skills-based opportunities.
