PE and Sports Premium
The Government has committed to providing substantial primary school sport funding to reflect the additional income from the ‘sugar tax’. This funding is jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and money goes directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.
The sport funding can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools. From September 2015 the guidelines for how the money can be spent were made more specific: “Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer” (Ofsted update 4 September 2015)
