On Thursday afternoon, our Year 6 boys kicked off their football season hoping to defend their league and cup titles for the third year running.
First up was their Pokémon Cup qualifying group against Broadlea, Barton and Hunnyhill. It was always going to be tough with short games against three strong schools and only one team going through!
Next up was Barton who flew out the traps attacking up the hill forcing some important blocks from our defenders. Tony broke the deadlock with a clinical strike before Barton fired back with a tidy finish to beat Max at his front post. As the game was looking to end in a draw, Tony pounced again and took his chance to win the game 2-1.
The third, and final, game was the decider against Hunnyhill who had also won their two previous games. A strong defensive performance from William and Billy prevented Max being troubled in goal. Tony and Bobby scored their chances to win the game 2-0 and take us through to the island finals.
A great start to the season and a perfect warm up ready for the games ahead - well done boys!
