Year 5 had an extraordinary day at the Winchester Science Centre in November. The day began with an early 6.45 start, and by 9.30, the eager children were immersed in a world of scientific marvels. From the depths of the ocean to the vastness of outer space, the children dove headfirst into a myriad of hands-on scientific activities. Applying their recently acquired knowledge of forces and revisiting Year 4's exploration of sound, they engaged in captivating experiments that brought science to life.

A highlight of the day was the workshop activity where children delved into the mysteries of matter and concocted two different types of slime. The excitement and curiosity grew as they discovered the fascinating properties of these peculiar substances.

The pinnacle of the visit was an awe-inspiring trip around the Solar System and beyond. The children had the incredible opportunity to witness the planets up close, gaining a firsthand understanding of what lies beyond our Earth. They even had time to explore other galaxies, expanding their cosmic horizons.

This truly inspiring day not only fuelled the children’s passion for science, but also equipped them with valuable insights that will undoubtedly benefit them throughout the rest of the term. We look forward to seeing the continued enthusiasm for learning that this experience has undoubtedly ignited.
