Visit from Jordan Catchpole MBE

We welcomed paralympic swimmer Jordan Catchpole MBE into our school on 11th October.

He led an inspirational assembly for all pupils. He explained that he is autistic and has learning difficulties, which puts him in the S14 category. He said lots of disabilities are hidden and he is trying to raise awareness for disabilities you cannot always see.

Jordan shared some of his successes with pupils, including that he is Paralympic and World Champion and has won multiple European medals. He was also in the world record breaking 4 x 100m relay team at the Paralympics.

Jordan told the children about the importance of eating a balanced diet and how it helps with exercise.

Jordan explained that he doesn’t win every race, but that is ok. He told the children that it is ok to have a bad day. “Don’t let it demoralise you, let it motivate you.”

Jordan emphasised the importance of mental health and encouraged the children to talk to someone if they ever feel down.

After the assembly, all 400 pupils from Reception through to Year 6 took part in a fun and energetic circuit session.

Thank you to all of the school community who sponsored the event to enable our children to have such a fantastic opportunity.
