U9 Football
The U9 girls had their first match of the season on Thursday against Queensgate. Despite the rain starting to pour just as the teams kicked off the girls started well with having lots of possession. In the first half, the girls had many chances to run at the Queensgate defence just never quite getting through on goal. Cayla & Chloe in defence for The Bay were solid, kicking away every ball that came close to Pixie in goal.
At the beginning of the second half the sun broke through the clouds, the girls were starting to tire having never played together as a team before. This didn’t stop Chloe in goal making two terrific saves to stop Queensgate scoring. Caitlin had a couple of opportunities to score for The Bay, however some great goalkeeping by the Queensgate keeper kept her shots out.
The match finished 0-0, but it was a fantastic performance by the girls team, who will go from strength to strength in their coming matches this season.
