U11 Cricket v Bembridge
On Monday afternoon, our U11 cricket team made the short trip over to secondary to face Bembridge in their cricket semi-final. The game was set to be a tough one with strong winds and occasional spells of rain. We won the toss and elected to bowl first. We bowled extremely well, limiting the amount of no balls and wides with 20 dot balls (no runs scored from our bowling). Oscar bowled his over brilliantly which included one ball which crashed into the stumps for a wicket. Some smart fielding from Riley J who threw the ball quickly and accurately to Kacper who was able to catch and run out the oncoming Bembridge player. After 8 overs, Bembridge set us a respectable total of 36 to chase.
Billy and Riley opened the batting intently with 3 boundaries from the first 2 overs setting the tone for the rest of the team. William and Zack then came in with the same attitude with William scoring fast with two 4s and two 6s. It was Peter and Kacper who stepped up next with some neat singles to keep the runs ticking along. Finally, it was Oscar and Harley's time to shine against 2 very strong Bembridge bowlers. They defended well as a pair and ran some cautious singles to take our final score of 67 runs (including 10 boundaries!) to take the victory and progress to next week's final! Well done guys, you thoroughly deserve it after all your hard work and dedication over the recent weeks. Good luck in the final!
