Hampshire Championship 'Runners up'
What an achievement from our u13 girls who crossed the water today to represent the IOW in the Hampshire School Games Football Competition 2024 at Stoneham Lane Football Complex, Eastleigh. This included the best 16 teams from each district in the whole of Hampshire.
The girls played 6 group games in the morning and we missed out on a place in the ‘Superleague’ so advanced into the ‘Championship’ competition for the afternoon.
With a vital win and a draw in the afternoon group stage, we advanced to the semi finals. Then we knew a semi final win would guarantee a place in the ‘Championship’ final and a medal. We were outstanding and nearing the end of the game, Zuzanna put one on a plate for Hollie to score and put us into the final.
The final finished as a draw and resulted in penalty kicks. Connie saved 4 penalties and Maisie scored one, but unfortunately we missed out in sudden death to finish with silver medals and runners up!
An unbelievable achievement from the girls who have done their coach, themselves, their families, The Bay CE School and the Isle of Wight proud today!
