Cricket Festival
On Thursday before half term, some of the KS2 children got an opportunity to take part in a cricket festival at Shanklin & Godshill Cricket Club. In the morning, some Year 3/4s did a circuit of different activities that focused on the key skills in cricket; batting, bowling, overarm throwing, and running. The children said their favourite game was ‘Brilliant bowler’, where they tried to see how many times they could bowl and hit the stumps.
In the afternoon, the Year 5s got the chance to do the same circuit of activities, looking at how far they could bat, how many times they could throw and hit the stumps, and how many runs they got in an amount of time. At the end of the circuit, the Year 5s got the opportunity to play a small game of diamond crickets against one of the other schools.
All children that took part across the day had a great time improving their cricket skills, ready for future cricket fixtures.
